Research Interests

Agricultural Systems Pest Management ResearchSpecializations include the development and implementation of biologically-intensive pest management programs; pest management and pesticide applicator training; pest management systems research; development of biorational pesticides, including biologicals and botanicals; development and utilization of row crop transgenics; evaluation of pesticide performance; field application of biological control; and environmental assessments of pest and pesticide management programs.


Professional Activities

Involved in the management of pests, development of pest management systems, pest management training, and environmental assessments on agronomic and horticultural crops in USA, Central America, West Africa, South Asia, People`s Republic of China, and Western/Central/Eastern Europe. The above activities are, or have been, in association with USAID; World Bank; UN FAO; UNIDO; Mellon Foundation; Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD); European Plant Protection Organization (OEPP/EPPO); International Working Group on Maize Pests (IWGO); European Union; St. Istvan University, Godollo, Hungary; University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia; Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), and Purdue University. Involved in the policy making process for pest management and pesticides in USA. Participated in the writing of several reports on the future direction of pest management. Have also been involved in the evaluation of international pest management research projects. Have served as an advisor to the Office of Pesticide Programs, USEPA; the National Coalition on IPM, an organization of businesses, trade associations, commodity groups, and environmental organizations that support the further development of pest management; and the National Foundation for IPM Education. Have developed and conducted pest management and pesticide training sessions for agribusinesses; also have designed and developed pest management programs for use by agribusinesses in the USA and for international agencies and institutions in West Africa, People`s Republic of China, South Asia, Central America, and Western/Central/Eastern Europe. Member of the Editorial Board of Entomologia Croatica.
