Bug Bowl [Official Site of Bug Bowl]
The Bug Bowl is an annual event that gives the community a chance to interact and learn about insects. This year it will be held on April 8th and 9th. The Thomas Say Society gets involved with this activity by making chocolate covered crickets to sell, and some members work at areas such as the "petting zoo". The petting zoo is where people can come in and hold arthropods such as Madagascar Hissing cockroaches and tarantulas. There is also a cricket spitting contest anyone may participate in. This is always a fun event for the club. [View Photos]

Insects Limited, Inc. Tour [www.insectslimited.com]
Insects Limited is owned and run by a Purdue Entomology alumnus, David Mueller. Members of the Thomas Say Society visited Insects Limited for a tour of the facilities and a talk on the companies' international efforts in ecologically sustainable insect control. One of the highlights of the visit (there were many) was a glimpse of some rare original books by Thomas Say and LeConte, and an original engraving of our societies' namesake. The enthusiasm of the people at Insects Limited for natural history and insects in particular was obvious in both their work and the building itself. [View Photos]
